Phenergan & Popsicles: Friday's Fave Five

Another week has flown by.  This time I spent 72 hours of it in a semi-conscious state due to a nasty stomach virus that knocked me flat on my back.  I have been able to get down a grand total of 4 meals since Sunday afternoon, but I'm feeling stronger everyday.  Here's this week's Fave Five which all have a similar theme.

1) Phenergan.  I loathe the idea of taking medicine while pregnant, but about 12 hours after the virus hit I knew I was going to have to do something to stop it or me and the baby could end up in some real trouble.  Thank God for phenergan which calmed my stomach and helped me to sleep knocked me unconscious for several uninterrupted hours.

2) Doctor Mom.  My mom does not live near me.  It takes a minimum 45 minute drive in no traffic to get from her house to mine.  And we live in Dallas, TX.  Which means there is always traffic.  Monday she had a lunch date with a dear friend.  Nevertheless, she delayed her lunch date and drove to my house to deliver medicine, popsicles, and Gatorade.  Thanks, Mom!

3)  Popsicles.  Enough said.

4)  Netflix.  Instant streaming on Netflix was my constant companion once I came out of my phenergan induced coma and was coherent enough to watch TV.  I love the fact that I can stream TV shows and movies straight to my TV.  This means no getting up to switch out DVDs which is a very very good thing when getting up equals a new wave of nausea!

5)  Patient Employers.  I had no more paid time off for the year.  Missing three days of work because of a stomach virus was not on my agenda.  Still, my boss didn't offer one single complaint and even gave me my Christmas bonus on my first day back in the office.  He made sure me and Baby Turner were doing just fine and then gave me a hug on my way out of his office making me promise to "do what I need to do to take care of that precious gift".  Wow.

Susanne at Living to Tell The Story hosts Friday's Fave Five each week.  Come join the fun!

  1. So glad you are feeling better and also thankful for the support you had to get better. The proper medication, helpful people and easy diversion can certainly make an illness less burdensome.

  2. I'm glad you are feeling better, and that you had the support of your mom and your boss. I haven't taken Phenergan in years, but I remember how sleepy it made me!
