Big Day!

Today was a big day for Sammy.  He had his first haircut this morning.  We went to Cool Cuts, and although they are kind of pricey I have to say that it was well worth the money.  The place is set up for kids (TVs, games, toys), and the staff was very patient and well-trained.  Sam got to sit in a race car and watch Yo Gabba Gabba while he got his hair cut.  The only time he seemed a little unsure was when the stylist tried to cut around his ears, but even then he was a good sport.  Of course, as we were walking out the door for the haircut this morning I realized the battery on our nice camera was dead, so you'll have to pardon the iPhone pics.

Here's the before and after pictures plus a little video.

After the big haircut we had just enough time to go home, pack up, and drive to the Ballpark in Arlington for Sam's first Ranger game.  We went with my college roommate, Annika, and a group from her church, and even though it was the hottest day of the year so far we had a good time.  We sat in our seats in the sun for the first inning, but it was just too hot for Sam, and we ended up in the First Aid Station where there was air conditioning so he could cool off.  Once he got cooled down we found a table in the shade and we stayed there for the game.  We didn't get to watch it (which was okay since the Rangers lost badly) but Sam had a great time playing and people-watching.

And, yes, someone did order The Great Bratbino.

For my out-of-town friends....this is a 24 inch bratwurst smothered in sauerkraut and grilled onions.  It took five people to eat this bad boy.  I don't do sauerkraut, so I stuck with my garlic fries, but it earned rave reviews from the people that did eat it.  The best part, though, was watching peoples' faces as Annika carried the gigantic weiner from the concession stand back to our table!  Her quote..."I don't think I can look anyone in the eye while I'm carrying this thing."

We got home, let Sam play in his splash pool for a few minutes, gave him a bath, watched Dave & The Giant Pickle, and now he's out like a light.  It officially feels like summer!
